Someone gave me the best skincare tip once. This person said: any time you put a product onto your skin, you’re actually eating it. That statement really hit home for me. It made me think about all the products I was putting on my skin. Not to mention all the things that I was not even in control of that come in contact with my skin, like pollution.

So in essence, each time you apply a product onto your skin, the active ingredients they contain ultimately seep into your bloodstream. Hence, they become your breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Several skincare tips have been created to help you nourish your skin more naturally. This way, when you rub the cream onto your face or hands, you don’t have to worry that it’s becoming part of your system.

 First and foremost, look at what you are putting on your skin. Sorry to tell you, but most of the big-name brands on the market contain a laundry list of chemicals. Now, think back to my opening statement: would you want to be eating an array of chemicals? Probably not. So don’t even think about putting them on your skin. When you buy a skincare product make sure it is free of parabens, fragrances, allergens, and harmful chemicals.

You might be wondering at this point, what are parabens? For one, retailers and cosmetic companies love them. Essentially, they are preservatives. They are a group of chemicals widely used in the cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries. Why are the big companies using them?

They are cheap and easily available and give products staying power so they can be sold longer. The downside? Research shows that high levels of paraben exposure over time can affect estrogen levels and lead to some forms of cancer.

 It’s OK, I do have some solutions for you. This all brings us to skincare tip number two: use naturally-made products. Go with skincare products made by companies who will assure you that every ingredient is pure and safe. Look for skincare products that contain natural moisturizing oils, vegetable-based waxes, reparative proteins, antioxidants, vitamins, and plant extracts.

The best skincare tips include things you can do to nourish your skin daily. When you begin, select a skincare routine that is easy to follow and includes naturally made ingredients. Use a cleansing product in the morning and a moisturizing cream at night. Lastly, don’t put anything on your skin that you wouldn’t serve on your table.
